Stoneware Vase

Coil built, this vase is an expression of emotion and movement in its surface finish. The refined form contrasts with its rough exterior, representing a change in pace from the slow build of the vessel to the quick textural application of clay. The finger marks of the artist frozen in time demonstrate the transition of the clay body, from its beginning of soft malleability to its final, fired, form. still and stone like. 

The white glaze over the rough grogged body, highlights the surface, allowing the clay to break through creating depth of colour and finish. 

Please note that due to the rough, highly textural surface, this piece needs to be handled accordingly and with care.
